Incident Involving an Injured Soldier from an Explosive Device
in the Operational Area.
On 27th February 2026 at 06:44 hours, a soldier assigned to 233rd Infantry Company, stationed at Erawan Operational Base in the Chong Rayee area,
Kap Choeng District, Surin Province, was injured after stepping on an explosive device while conducting duties within an area under our control.
As a result of the incident, one soldier—Private Dechsak Trikham, serving as a rifleman—sustained serious injuries to his right leg. Immediate first aid was administered at the scene, and the injured soldier was urgently evacuated to the nearest hospital for medical treatment. He is currently under close supervision and care by medical professionals.
Preliminary examination of the incident site indicates that the area consists of soil covered with accumulated wood fragments, leaves, and natural debris over an extended period. The explosive device is believed to have been buried deep beneath the soil surface, making detection difficult. Despite continuous area inspections conducted by the unit in recent periods, the concealed nature of the device posed significant challenges.
A thorough investigation is currently underway to establish all relevant facts and to formulate enhanced preventive measures to ensure that similar incidents do not recur.
The responsible units have implemented strengthened inspection protocols and reinforced safety measures in the operational area to maximize the safety of personnel on duty. The condition of the injured soldier is being closely monitored, and further updates will be provided as appropriate.
