ทบ. เผยเหตุเสียงปืน 5 นัดชายแดนสุรินทร์ ชี้กัมพูชาเจตนาก่อกวน ขัดถ้อยแถลงร่วมฯ ด้านกองกำลังสุรนารีย้ำหน่วยในพื้นที่ยึดกฎการใช้กำลังพร้อมรับสถานการณ์
 พลตรี วินธัย สุวารี โฆษกกองทัพบก เผยว่าวานนี้ (21 พ.ค. 69) กองทัพบก ได้รับรายงานจาก  ร้อย.ทพ.2603 กองกำลังสุรนารี ขณะจัดกำลังพลปฏิบัติภารกิจปรับปรุงที่มั่นเสริมความมั่นคง บริเวณหลักเขตแดนที่ 18 อ.กาบเชิง จ.สุรินทร์ โดยเมื่อเวลาประมาณ 1420 น. กำลังพลได้ยินเสียงปืนเล็กจำนวน 5 นัด ดังมาจากทางทิศใต้ ระยะทางประมาณ 600 เมตร ซึ่งอยู่ในพื้นที่ควบคุมของฝ่ายกัมพูชา หลังจากนั้น กำลังพลได้หยุดฟังและตรวจการณ์อย่างละเอียด ไม่ปรากฏสิ่งผิดปกติ จึงได้ปฏิบัติภารกิจต่อไป 
เหตุการณ์ดังกล่าว ฝ่ายเราไม่มีกำลังพลได้รับบาดเจ็บ และไม่มีการยิงโต้ตอบ เพื่อป้องกันไม่ให้เป็นการเปิดเผยที่ตั้งและการวางกำลังของฝ่ายเรา ทั้งนี้ กองกำลังสุรนารีสั่งการให้เฝ้าระวังและพร้อมปฏิบัติตามกฎการใช้กำลังตามสถานการณ์อย่างเคร่งครัด 
สำหรับการกระทำของฝ่ายกัมพูชาดังกล่าว แม้จะมีลักษณะเป็นการก่อกวนจากระยะไกล แต่จัดเป็นพฤติกรรมที่ขัดต่อถ้อยแถลงร่วมฯ อย่างชัดเจน ซึ่งกองกำลังสุรนารี จะได้แจ้งเตือนและประท้วงฝ่ายกัมพูชาถึงการกระทำที่ละเมิดข้อตกลงดังกล่าว ผ่านช่องทางชุดประสานงานในพื้นที่ต่อไป
Royal Thai Army Reports Gunfire Incident at Surin Border, Accuses Cambodia of Provocation and Breach of Joint Statement. Suranaree Task Force Enforces Rules of Engagement, Stay Ready for Border Situation. 
Major General Winthai Suwaree, Army Spokesperson, revealed the report received yesterday (May 21, 2026) from the Para-military Forces Company 2603, Suranaree Task Force, while troops were carrying out a mission to strengthen defensive positions near Border Marker No. 18 in Kap Choeng District, Surin Province. At approximately 14:20 hours, personnel heard five gunshots from the south, about 600 meters away, within Cambodian-controlled territory. After carefully listening and observing, no irregularities were detected, so the mission continued.
In this incident, no Thai personnel were injured, and there was no return fire, in order to avoid revealing the location and deployment of Thai forces. The Suranaree Task Force has ordered heightened vigilance and strict adherence to rules of engagement according to the situation.
Regarding the Cambodian actions, although they appeared to be long-distance harassment, they clearly violated the joint statement agreement. The Suranaree Task Force will issue a warning and lodge a protest with the Cambodian side over this breach of agreement through local coordination channels.
